Submariner No-Date 14060M (1999-2012)
14060M
The 14060M is a late aluminum-bezel Submariner without a date. It combines the familiar black dive-watch dial with a 40-millimeter steel case and an automatic calibre 3130. It belongs to the generation before ceramic inserts and the broader case proportions of the 2010s.
Leaving out the date changes more than one small window. There is no magnifying lens over the glass, and a rectangular marker can remain at three o'clock to balance the one at nine. The triangle at twelve, rectangle at six and round markers between them make the dial easy to understand as a single arrangement.
The rotating bezel provides the additional function. Align its luminous starting marker with the minute hand and the scale shows elapsed minutes. It turns in only one direction, so an accidental movement makes the indicated interval longer, not shorter. That is a safety feature inherited from its diving purpose.
The M in the reference distinguishes the updated movement from the preceding 14060. It does not mean a new case design. Across the 14060M's run, the dial gained chronometer-certification wording: earlier examples have two lines below the center, later ones four. Both retain the same basic layout.
