Rolex updated its steel-and-white-gold Sky-Dweller in 2023 without changing the way its owner reads or sets it. Reference 336934 remains a 42-millimeter automatic watch with local time, a second time zone and an annual calendar. The principal change is inside: calibre 9002 replaces the preceding 9001.

The new movement adds Rolex's Chronergy escapement, the mechanism that releases energy from the mainspring in measured steps. It also has a revised winding rotor and bearing. The running reserve remains approximately three days; this was an update to the mechanism, not an extra function on the dial.

The main hands display local time. A twenty-four-hour disc beneath them gives a second time against a fixed red triangle. The local hour can be moved independently, with the date following it when necessary.

For the month, the watch uses twelve small windows just outside the hour markers. The red one identifies the current month. The calendar handles thirty- and thirty-one-day months automatically, leaving one correction after February when the watch has kept running and remained correctly set.

The white-gold fluted bezel selects the function to adjust; the crown then makes the change. It is an effective use of a large existing part of the watch, though learning the settings still requires more attention than a simple date watch.

Mint green joined the steel-and-white-gold range with this generation, alongside other dial choices and Oyster or Jubilee bracelets. Those combinations change the appearance, not the underlying calendar or time-zone system. The 336934 is best understood as a revised mechanism within an established design, rather than a visibly new kind of Sky-Dweller.
